ABOUT GHANA
Ghana Wilson is a renowned event expert and consummate professional. Flawlessly producing events with a unique balance of creative concepts, an eye on sustainability, and detailed organization, Ghana is detail-oriented and a team player, providing clients with a laser focus complimented by a relaxed personality that serves well in stressful situations.
With the ability to calmly navigate any problem and maneuver through pressured and chaotic situations with ease, Ghana has mastered the delicate combination of refined instinct, extreme patience, and superb attention to detail.
Born in New York City and raised on the North Shore of Long Island and the Catskills, Ghana found her passion for events early on, sparked by her father an artist and educator who used his hands to fashion wood and stained-glass sculptures that were functional art, and her mother who had a flair for decorating their living spaces in an explosion of culture, art, literature, and nature. Combined, their talents made their various homes places of sensory and intellectual curiosity and exploration.
MY EXPERIENCE
With almost two decades of experience strategizing, planning, and executing mid to large-scale events, Ghana Wilson started her career as a Journalist working for publications such as Newsweek Magazine, The Allentown Morning Call and The Daily Challenge. She later pivoted to Public Relations and Event Production working with clients such as Eddie Murphy, P. Diddy, Wesley Snipes, Dikembe Mutombo, Anita Baker, Chris Rock, Doug E. Fresh, Vanessa Williams, and Bill Bellamy. As the Director of Special Events for The American Diabetes Association and The National Hemophilia Foundation, she was responsible for overseeing the organizations’ $3 million event budgets, conceptualizing and developing signature special events for the not-for-profit foundations. She also served as the Director of Communications and Marketing for the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, where she developed and managed national outdoor media and public health awareness campaigns, managed the website production and design, and secured national partnerships between the foundation and national consumer brands.
After leaving the comforts of corporate America and building on the creativity, adrenaline and relationships she built, Ghana founded Green Gigz where she has consulted, ideated, developed and produced events, experiences and special projects for REVOLT TV, ABFF Ventures, National Football League (NFL), Race Forward, Peachtree Village International Film Festival, Multicultural Media Correspondents Association (MMCA), The Shadow League and ASPIRE TV. She was directly responsible for planning and executing all activations and event experiences for the REVOLT Summit x AT&T, the American Black Film Festival, BET’s ABFF Honors, MMCA's Media Diversity Awards, The Shadow League Awards, and the Facing Race National Conference. In partnership with the SEOPOW Community Redevelopment Association, Ghana created the Miami Film Life Center (MFLC), a South-Florida based arts institute with a mission is to enhance awareness and accessibility of film and filmmaking to the residents of Overtown and surrounding communities.
A proud alumna of Howard University, Ghana is a member of or has served on the advisory boards of various organizations, including MMCA, Seeds of Africa, Inc., Live Events Coalition, GEMS (Girls Education Mentoring Services), ISES, NABJ, Black Public Relations Society, African American Public Relations Collective (AAPRC), MPNY, OPPORTUNITY GREEN and The-Green-Group.com.
